Robert Kuśmirowski

Poland

Born in 1973 in Łódź, Robert Kuśmirowski is a contemporary Polish artist who explores sculpture, installations, performance, and photography. His artistic endeavors involve the reconstruction of historical artifacts and environments to scrutinize and manipulate historical concepts. Currently residing in Lublin, he pursued sculpture studies at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, including a year’s scholarship at the University of Rennes 2, and successfully completed his studies in 2003.

Kuśmirowski’s installations vividly showcase his skill in crafting replicas that create illusionary effects of decay and aging. He often combines found objects with meticulously constructed elements made from wood, cardboard, paint, and various materials. His fascination with replication and falsification traces back to his childhood, when he used to forge bus passes and postage stamps for his family. This theme has remained a consistent thread throughout his artistic journey.
