Nikita Kadan was born in Kyiv in 1982. He engages in painting, graphics, and installation, frequently collaborating across disciplines with architects, sociologists, and human rights activists. A member of the R.E.P. (Revolutionary Experimental Space) artist group and a founding member of Hudrada (Artistic Committee), a curatorial and activist collective, Nikita Kadan represented Ukraine at the Venice Biennale in 2015.
His accolades include the Kazimir Malevich Prize in 2016, the Future Generation Prize (special prize) in 2014, the Main Prize and PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2011, and being shortlisted for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009 and the Future Generation Prize in 2012.
His works are held in public collections, including the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, M HKA – Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp, mumok (Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien), National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv, Arsenal Gallery in Białystok, Military History Museum in Dresden, The Art Collection Telekom, Krasnoyarsk Museum Centre in Krasnoyarsk, The Kingdom of Belgium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FRAC Bretagne, Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
