Counterfactual Art Archive [CAA] is a collection of specific artistic practices from the second half of the 20th century to the present. The artists and projects in the archive explore the boundary between truth and fiction, alternative realities of the past and (im)probable future scenarios, work with myths, deconstruction of historical narratives, raise questions about the ideological component of archives as such, and the mutations of post-memory.
The archive is structured as a glossary with built-in navigation and classification by types/functions.
The Counterfactual Art Archive is being created in real time at the Laboratory for Experimental Museology eMPLUS at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne.
